One of the oldest surviving buildings of Hubballi is the historic Chitaguppi Hospital. During the colonial rule and in the early part of our independence, the hospital was known as Rao Bahadur Srinivas Balaji Chitaguppi Dispensary.
Chitaguppi hospital has stood the test of time and even now is frequented by people because of the trust that has been built by the hospital because of the selfless service being rendered by them to numerous patients over the past decades.
The old-world charm of the hospital was a sight for the eyes. The moment one steps foot inside the compound, they would be instantly taken back to the 40s and 50s. The majority of the construction was made out of wood, mud and Mangalore tiles.
This grand-old hospital was in dire need of some major repairs and looking at the progress done by Hubballi Dharwad Smart City Abhivruddhi Society (HDSCAS) in a short period of time, the task of renovating the entire hospital and continuing the legacy of the legendary Chitaguppi Hospital was assigned to HDSCAS in May 2019.
The new look Chitaguppi Hospital will have a two- storey building along with a basement. The parking space would be sufficient to park 28 cars and 40 two-wheelers.
The development of the entire campus will be divided into three phases namely:
- Maternity block
- Administrative block
- Hospital block
The renovated Hospital will be a multispeciality hospital and will accomodate 100 beds, would have 2 operation theaters, casualty block, ICU, NICU, labor room, post-delivery rooms, laboratory and 8 OPDs to service patients suffering from a variety of ailments & diseases.
The rooms would be spacious, clean, hygienic, well-lit and well ventilated thus ensuring the patients in the hospital feel comfortable during their stay.
